Angela McConville

Chief Executive

Angela is the Chief Executive of Vital Regeneration, leading the organisation's work on economic development and community regeneration, particularly in areas of deprivation and dense social housing.

Angela’s primary areas of expertise are skills, enterprise, employability and economic development in regeneration contexts. She has worked in this area for seven years, previously as Director of Community Regeneration at Dunlop Haywards.  Angela established Vital Regeneration as a sustainability strategy for a number of key learning and enterprise programmes, which had been developed through the Estate Action programmes of the 1990s – a decade long series of major works projects on dense housing estates in Westminster.

Angela has a proven track record in the delivery of quality, high profile achievement in economic and community development. Under her leadership, Vital Regeneration was awarded a 2008 UK Catalyst Award by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, for innovative practice in the space of technology enabled social impact. Angela has also led the organisation in the establishment of a high profile joint venture, with a number of third sector partners, including an Australian group apprenticeship programme; this joint venture will offer the UK’s first group apprenticeship company 'The London Apprenticeship Company'.

Angela started her career as a Management Consultant for the Learning and Training department within the global Management Consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and has been trained in their in-house Project Management Methodology – Ascendant.

Angela is a Governor of a leading London Further Education College, which is delivering the largest capital development programme nationally, investing more then £100 million in a flagship learning campus under the Westway, West London. Angela has recently served as a Council (Board) Member for the Central London Learning & Skills Council – which was an influential role in terms of investment in the skills sector in London, providing her with valuable insight into the economic development challenges across London’s regeneration projects – Battersea Power Station, Kings Cross, Paddington Basin.

Angela is presently reading for Masters in Business Administration at Henley Business School.

Katy Haigh

Deputy Chief Executive

Katy is Vital Regeneration's Deputy Chief Executive and leads the strategic development and delivery of Vital Regeneration’s learning programmes. Katy also programme manages Vital Regeneration’s Momentum Programme, which is co-financed by the European Social Fund and Learning & Skills Council, and delivered with a consortium of partners across London.

Previous to this role, Katy was Vital Regeneration's Studio+ Project Manager and managed this innovative project, which combined Skills for Life, music and progression activites for young people who were not in education, employment or training.

Katy joined Vital Regeneration in February 2007 after having spent a year and a half working and travelling in New Zealand and Australia. In New Zealand she worked at the Ministry of Education on communications and project management.  She also interned at Box Rocket Animations where she was involved with the production of an animated TV quiz for children.

Katy gained a PGCE in Secondary School Music Teaching from Kingston University in 2002, and celebrated by putting on her comedy musical "The Naked Tambourine" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  The following September she took on a teaching post at Claremont Performing Arts College in Kenton, and after two years was promoted to Assistant Director of Music.

Tim Coomb

Finance Consultant

Tim has worked for over 15 years in a senior capacity with small and medium-sized charities and not-for-profit organisations.  Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and has recently completed a postgraduate certificate in the Social Sciences.

Maria Harris

Community Development Manager

Maria Harris is our Community Development Manager.  Over the last year Maria has been working to build the reputation of The Greenside Community Centre as a quality, responsive and flexible community hub, valued by local residents, groups and agencies.  Maria's vision is to further develop Vital Regeneration's community development capabilities and bring in new, exciting and innovative ideas to Greenside.  Maria hopes to involve local organisations and residents in delivering activities, as well as taking part themselves.

Maria joined Vital Regeneration in 2004 where she started out as the Project Administrator for 'firststep.com' - our learning centre on the Lisson Green Estate.  Maria has a background in Ecology and she still has a keen interest in environmental issues which she sustains via programmes and partnerships at The Greenside Community Centre, encouraging a green ethos within the team and services at the centre.

Previously Maria worked for various central government departments delivering ICT projects.  The move to regeneration was a strategic career step as she wanted to work in an environment that was ultimately more rewarding.

Marie Monaghan

Sustainability Programme Manager

Marie is responsible for the delivery of environmental & sustainability projects at Vital Regeneration.  'Get on the Greenside' is a neighbourhood recycling project working on high density social housing estates in North Westminster to raise awareness of and increase participation in recycling.

Marie is also responsible for the development and delivery of a community composting project collecting and composting food waste from residents living on Church St Estate in North Westminster.  She works with local schools educating young people about recycling and climate change and also with local community groups to organise activities focusing on the environment.  She is currently developing a broader community environmental awareness programme focusing on energy, local transport and local food as well as recycling.

Marie represents Vital Regeneration on the Queens Park Neighbourhood Management Board which is responsible for the coordination of neighbourhood renewal activities and local services to deliver the Queens Park Neighbourhood Plan 2008-2012.  She also sits on Westminster’s Liveability Network 'Livenet' which aims to provide leadership on environmental issues and to oversee the delivery of Local Area Agreement outcomes related to the environment in Westminster.

Marie joined Vital Regeneration in February 2006 as Neighbourhood Recycling Officer.  Prior to this she spent a year working for a marine conservation company in Belize in Central America carrying out surveys on the coral reef.  Marie holds a BSc (Hons) in Biology from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and an MSc Environmental Science from Trinity College Dublin.

Sam Rowley

Education Project Manager

Sam is responsible for the sustainable development of Vital Regeneration's digital learning centres and leading on partnership work with local schools.

Sam represents Vital Regeneration on a number of external Westminster networks including the youth enterprise hub at The Stowe Centre and the Church Street Library Learning Steering Group.

Before working with Vital Regeneration, Sam lived and worked in Mexico as a project manager for a charity he founded that supplies extra curricular activities to marginalised communities in Mexico City.  He has also worked in the Dominican Republic helping to provide education opportunities in rural communities.

Sam completed his PGCE in primary education from Birmingham University in 2002 and is due to finish his MSc in Human Resource Management from Manchester University in September 2008.

Jenny Irish

FreqOUT! Project Manager

Jenny heads up the FreqOUT! project at Vital Regeneration.  Jenny is keen to build on previous project successes and take FreqOUT! forward to engage young people through cutting edge technologies and the arts.

Jenny has a background in Communication Design and worked as an installation artist to engage audiences through interactive experiences.  Her work has been exhibited nationally and recently she has shown work in China following an arts residency she completed in Beijing in 2006.  Jenny also teaches at Degree level and has a Masters in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins with distinction.

Fiona Black

Re-evolve Project Manager

Fiona joined Vital in April 2008 as Project Manager for the v-sponsored youth-led career service, in which she looks forward to promoting choice and social awareness with young people and supporting them to make informed careers choices and decisions.

Fiona’s own career has included roles as a Fundraising Consultant, Secondary Art and Design Teacher, Freelance Lead Artist and Facilitator as well as Contemporary Textile and Embroidery Designer.  She is dedicated to community development and life-long learning.

Matt Kepple

Studio+ Project Manager

Matt manages Vital Regeneration's Studio+ Project. Studio+ is for 14-19 year olds who are not in employment, education or training, from Westminster and Camden. The project incorporates training by industry professionals in music production and events management with Skills for Life learning. All students are also supported by the project's Key Worker to gain qualifications, develop skills and experiences, and then to progress into further education or training, work experience or sustainable employment.

Matt has recently been working as Chairman and Project Co-ordinator for the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise. He is also the Director of his own Web 2.0 fundraising charity www.willwemakeit.com. Matt holds a Masters in Natural Sciences with French, and previously worked as an Advertising Executive in a London-based advertising agency.

Riad Huballah

Business Development Associate

Riad previously worked as Employer Engagement Manager for the Vital Advice team, moving to Business Development Associate in 2007.  His experience of corporate social responsibility objectives and local labour marker projects provide a broad-ranging knowledge base for his business development work.

Riad holds an MSc in Entrepreneurship, Science & Technology.  Before joining Vital Regeneration, he worked at the Nottingham Science & Technology Park and PERA within Business Development and Analysts roles.

Judith McKee

Learning & Employment Advisor - H.E.L.P.

Judith joined Vital Regeneration in February 2008.  Prior to this she worked as an advisor for the Citizens Advice Bureau and freelanced as a legal clerk.

Judith has a BA (Joint Honours) English and History from the University of Southampton and a Masters in Law from the University of London with distinction.  She enjoys working with clients and seeing their lives and well-being transformed as a result.

Daniel Williams

Learning & Employment Advisor - Apprenticeships

Dan works in the Vital Advice team as a Learning and Employment Advisor providing information, advice and guidance to young people, particularly focusing on apprenticeships.

Dan first joined Vital Regeneration in April 2007 as an intern two days a week on the Studio + project where he worked as a support tutor on the London Dreaming course and assisted the project manager with the planning and running of Studio+.  Prior to this role, Dan worked for The British Journal of Sociology and has also interned at The Young Foundation.

Dan has a BA (Hons) in Sociology from Leeds University and is currently working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance.

Lorraine Willis

Programme Officer

Lorraine is the Programme Officer for Vital Regeneration’s Learning team.  Her role involves monitoring, data analysis and supporting the strategic planning for Vital Regeneration’s learning, music and media projects.  This includes Firststep.com, Queens Park New Media Centre, Studio + and FreqOUT!

Lorraine joined Vital Regeneration in February 2006 as the Project Administrator for Firststep.com at The Greenside Community Centre.  Prior to this she worked in advertising post production and market research.

Lorraine has a BA (Hons) Information and Media Studies from Brighton University.

Justine Davy

Resourcing Coordinator

Having studied Marketing and PR in 2006, Justine took on a voluntary role with Vital Regeneration to gain further experience.  Justine then worked as PA to the Chief Executive before moving to the role of Resourcing Coordinator in early 2008.

Justine has a background in administration, with over 10 years office experience.  Justine previously worked for a Child and Youth Market Research Company before joining Vital Regeneration.

Dominic Papineau

Facilities Coordinator

Dominic joined Vital Regeneration as a business development intern in January 2006.  This allowed him to gain experience and learn about Vital's different projects.  He started as the Facilities Coordinator at The Greenside Community Centre in June 2007.

Dominic's favourite aspect of his job is that he gets to meet and work with such a wide variety of people from the local community.

Hana Osman

Learning Administrator

Hana has recently returned from two years in Nicaragua where she worked as Project Co-ordinator for a social education and conservation project, which aimed to educate local communities in their surrounding biodiversity and encourage sustainable development.

Growing up in rural parts of Africa, often surrounded by severe poverty, Hana always envisaged herself working for a charity whose aims were to improve lives through education and empowerment, which is how she came to work for Vital Regeneration.  Through working as Learning Administrator Hana hopes to develop her passion for working in the development and educational sectors whilst gaining vital knowledge and skills.

Hana completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2005 and is hoping to start studying for a MSc in the next few years.
